A Ghost Road is a road that has become a thin shadow drawn across the landscape. These are roads whose original purpose, from disuse, has been lost. They are not maintained, are very rarely traveled (and even then usually only by mistake), and are sometimes nearly indiscernible from the surrounding landscape. However, once a road has been built and traveled, it can never completely die. Some trace of it will always remain, but its original purpose will become overgrown and the final destination will shift. For this reason, a person who walks a Ghost Road has to stay alert and vigilant in order to stay on the corporeal path. The world is crisscrossed by a finely woven net of Ghost Roads, most of which are not visible to the naked eye. My advice to anyone who wants to be a Traveler and not a Wanderer, is to be always aware of your steps and where they are taking you. Otherwise, it’s likely that at some point a Ghost Road will pick you up, and though it’s impossible to become truly lost when you are following a Road, you may be misdirected, and end up somewhere you didn’t expect and likely don’t belong (in some significant and possibly terrifying way). On the other hand, if you’re prepared for it, going down that rabbit hole can be quite an adventure…
